TwittraShareSeveral administrations have applied and received money for the investment. For example, the cultural administration must organize circus activities and the elementary school administration must arrange competitions in building legos.
The Sweden Democrats believe that the money is likely to do more good elsewhere.
– Welfare is on its knees. Put the tax dollars on the school instead. We believe this is a better way to increase security and strengthen participation in socially vulnerable areas, says opposition councilor Magnus Olsson (SD), in a press release.
SD Malmö also wants the municipality to address itself directly to the residents of these areas to hear how they think security can be strengthened.
– MKB, for example, recently conducted a survey that showed that their tenants wanted better security in their areas with patrolling security companies and drug dogs most of all . And if you're going to invest in children and young people, then invest in outdoor activities – how does an area become safer because children sit in a room and build Legos? And how much do circus activities strengthen young people's sense of participation? says Magnus Olsson.
It is in order to get answers to questions like these that SD Malmö wanted to refer the case back to the administrations concerned.
– Which activities really have the best effect? Some of the activities for which money is sought work well, like the leisure banks. But we are skeptical about some of the others, says Magnus Olsson.
