Victoria Nuland resigns suddenly

Foreign. Top US diplomat Victoria Nuland – the mastermind behind US foreign policy strategy in Ukraine – suddenly resigns from her top diplomatic job. This is announced by Foreign Minister Antony Blinken in a press release.

Victoria Nuland became known to the world at the beginning of February 2014 through her comment “fuck the EU” in a recorded and leaked phone call with then-ambassador in Kiev, Geoffrey Pyatt.

In the conversation, the two American diplomats – in the middle of the ongoing protests in Kiev – discussed in detail which politicians and oligarchs they intended to let rule Ukraine after the coup d'état against the popularly elected president Viktor Yanukovych was carried out.

Since then, Victoria Nuland has climbed to the third highest leadership position at the US Foreign Ministry and is strongly associated with the war hawk phalanx within the US diplomatic corps. Privately, she is married to the well-known neoconservative profile Robert Kagan. Neoconservatism is an ideology that states that the United States should be used to start a war against Israel's enemies.

In today's press release from Antony Blinken, no reasons are given as to why Victoria Nuland suddenly chooses to stop her 35-year career in State Department.

“Victoria Nuland has informed me that she intends to resign in the coming weeks,” he writes only.
