Thursday's carnage in Gaza City, where more than 100 people were killed and 750 injured when Israel attacked a food queue, is said to have contributed to the parties feeling pressured to reach a ceasefire, according to Reuters sources.
According to the US advises agreement on how long the ceasefire will last, as well as hostage and prisoner exchanges. However, Hamas' approval is still awaited.
Several parts of the agreement also remain. Hamas demands that Israel withdraw its forces from northern Gaza and that displaced Palestinians be allowed to return.
