Eight people had to seek medical attention on Friday after an alarm about a gas leak in the Security Police's headquarters in Solna.

At Säpo it was claimed that there was no gas at the time of the incident. However, this is contradicted by a report from the county administrative board in Stockholm which states that “The rescue service has measured the substance Phosgene (0.6 ppm) and during the meeting information emerged that the measured values are decreasing.”

Information about that sensors in the ceiling had detected phosgene circulated in the media as early as Friday, but was never confirmed by the police or emergency services.

Phosgene was used as a chemical warfare agent in the First World War and can also be formed during welding.
