Bitcoin near new record

Economy. The value of bitcoin is soaring again and is close to reaching its highest level ever.

On Wednesday evening, one bitcoin was traded for just over 62,000 US dollar.

The previous record of $67,707 from November 9, 2021 thus appears to be on the verge of being broken if the current price rise continues.

After a price collapse at the end of 2022, bitcoin has seen a resurgence – largely due to new services in the US that make it possible to bet on bitcoin's value without owning the currency yourself, so-called exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
