Google will have Gemini generate images of people again within a few weeks

Google plans to resume Gemini's people image generation “within a few weeks.” This is what Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis says. The feature was disabled last week after it generated historically inaccurate images of people.

Hassabis said in a panel at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that Google hopes to have the AI chatbot feature 'within a few weeks' can be online again,” Reuters writes. Hassabis also says that the tool does not work as intended.

Since last week, Gemini has temporarily been unable to generate AI images of people. The tech giant disabled this feature after complaints about diversity. For example, Gemini generated inaccurate representations of historical figures such as Vikings, the Pope and German soldiers around World War II. The AI tool generated images with people of color for these historical persons.
