British game developer Supermassive Games plans to reduce its workforce by 90 people. Bloomberg says that 150 employees have been told they are at risk of being fired.
Supermassive, known for horror games such as Until Dawn and The Quarry, plans to lay off some of its employees due to a reorganization. The studio itself announced this on the social medium X. According to Bloomberg, this involves 90 people, which is almost a third of the total workforce. It is reported that Supermassive currently employs more than 300 people.
Legislation in Great Britain requires companies to announce mass layoffs in advance. Supermassive employees were reportedly informed of the upcoming reorganization this morning. According to the developer, the layoffs are necessary due to the 'major challenges' in the games industry. Layoffs were also recently announced at Riot Games, Unity and Eidos-Montréal, among others.
Until Dawn.
