Republicans accuse the secretary of “deliberately and systematically” failing to secure the country's borders.

Before becoming a minister, he served on the board of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), an organization that works to increase Third World immigration to the United States.
The Republican-dominated House of Representatives voted to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas by one vote margin – 214–213. However, Mayorkas is expected to be acquitted in the Senate, where the Democrats have a majority.
