An Automatic super resolution feature was found in a Windows 11 Insider build. This uses AI to 'play games smoother and with more detail', and is therefore similar to the upscaling techniques of Nvidia and AMD.
Microsoft has not yet provided additional details about the feature, but the feature is likely to render games in a lower resolution, and then upscaled to higher resolutions with AI. This should ensure higher frame rates with little loss of quality. The feature is included in the Windows 11 Insider 26052 build, Neowin reports. The function can be turned on and off via ViVeTool, a program to use hidden Windows functions, but does not yet provide a higher fps. It is not clear with which hardware and which games the function should work.
