Domestic. Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) now admits that the Sweden Democrats are the only party that has had a credible immigration policy.

– It's just a party that has credibility in the migration issue based on the perspective that it has stood firm in its position for a long time, Stenergard said at a press conference in the Riksdag, reports Aftonbladet.
The Minister of Migration states that her analysis is that the SD “was in step with the people”.
– The people were clamoring for changes in migration policy, but the other parties refused to take up the issue.
Maria Malmer Stenergard says that already in the 2014 election campaign, she realized that her own party – which was then led by Fredrik Reinfeldt – stood far from the voters on the immigration issue.
When SD won ground, it became even “less convenient” for M to take up the issue, she continues, something the minister describes as “extremely unfortunate “.
In the long term, however, Maria Malmer Stenergard hopes that voters will gain confidence in M's new immigration policy, she says.
