Foreign. On Tuesday evening, the Turkish parliament approved Sweden's application for membership in NATO after a vote. Of the 346 votes that were cast, 287 were for, 55 against while the rest abstained.

The decision was preceded by a four-hour long debate in which various aspects of Sweden's possible membership was discussed.
Topics that were raised included Koran burnings and terrorists being allowed to walk freely on the streets of Stockholm.
Now all that remains is formal approval from Turkish President Erdogan.
It is now only the Hungarian parliament that has not yet voted for Swedish NATO membership. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has invited Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to Hungary for a discussion on the issue, but was met with cocky answers from Foreign Minister Tobias Billström, who, according to SVT, does not even want to answer whether Kristersson intends to make the trip.
