Frontex is responsible for securing the external borders of the Schengen area. But the new manager is troubled by the talk of trying to limit the influx.
– It's a lot of wishful thinking and an often exaggerated choice of words, says Hans Leijtens.
Last year over a million illegal immigrants applied on asylum in the EU. Most of the applications were submitted in Germany.
