Domestic. SD leader Richard Jomshof believes that symbols of Islam – such as crescents and minarets – should be banned in public space, in the same way as swastikas. This makes Center Party leader Muharrem Demirok see red.

It is in an interview in Aftonbladet that Jomshof is asked if he can imagine a ban on Islamic symbols.
– Yes, absolutely. It is clear that not least minarets, the crescent moon, are a symbol that represents what Islam stands for. For many people, including me, it represents something very dangerous. Something very bad. A similar restriction is definitely a possible way forward. Exactly how it should look can be discussed, he replies.
C leader Muharrem Demirok says in an interview with TT that Jomshof's statement is “extremely serious”.
– Richard Jomshof and the Sweden Democrats spend all their time sowing division and hatred, says Demirok.
