Ferrari, in the United States you can pay with cryptocurrencies

Buying cars with cryptocurrencies? Tesla had tried it in the past. For a period, in fact, the American car manufacturer had decided to accept Bitcoins as a form of payment for the purchase of its cars. Possibility which lasted, however, only a few months. In the end, Elon Musk's company decided to no longer accept payments in Bitcoin. Officially, the reason was to be found in the fact that the extraction of this cryptocurrency and its transactions require a lot of energy and this is still produced by burning many fossil fuels.

IN THE FUTURE ALSO IN EUROPE

Now, apparently, there is who will try again and we are not talking about just any car manufacturer but even Ferrari. Speaking to Reuters, Enrico Galliera, Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer of Ferrari, said that Maranello has decided to open up to cryptocurrencies and will accept payments through virtual currency for its sports cars in the United States. More forward, this new purchasing option will be also extended to the European market to satisfy the requests of its customers.

Galliera added that this decision is was taken in response to market and dealer requests as many of its clients have invested in cryptocurrencies. The Italian manager did not say how many Ferrari cars he plans to sell through virtual currency payments.

Many companies, over time, have moved away from cryptocurrencies due to their volatility, lack of precise rules and high energy consumption. On the topic of consumption, Galliera highlights that cryptocurrencies have made important steps forward to reduce their carbon footprint, thanks to new software and greater use of renewable energy.

Ferrari has aimed at BitPay, for the initial phase in the United States, which will allow transactions in Bitcoin, ether and USDC. By paying with cryptocurrencies there will be no no surcharge or additional commission. Bitpay will transform cryptocurrency payments in traditional currency on behalf of Ferrari dealers immediately, so that they are protected from price fluctuations.

BitPay will guarantee that the virtual currencies come from legitimate sources and are not derived from financial activities. criminals or are used to launder the proceeds of crime or evade taxes. Ferrari's marketing and sales manager said most of its US dealers already have have joined, or are about to join, the program.

Thanks to this new strategy, Ferrari aims to reach potential new customers who can now afford one of its supercars.
