The Volkswagen Group delivered over 530 thousand electric euros in the first 9 months of the year. More specifically, 531,500 units were delivered. globally equal to a 45% growth compared to the same period in 2022. In fact, in the period January-September 2022, 266,600 battery-powered cars were delivered. Thanks to this result, the share of BEV models on the total is grew to 7.9%compared to 6.1% in January-September 2022. In the third quarter, the share of BEVs reached 9.0% (Q3 2022: 6.8%).
The European markethas confirmed, once again, as the reference point for the German Group's electric cars. In fact, 341,100 cars were delivered, equal to an increase of 61%. Significant growth also in the United States where it is an increase of 74% equal to 50,300 units was recorded.
More growth in China is limited. With a +4%, 117,100 electric cars were delivered. Therefore, 64% of the Group's BEV deliveries are attributable to Europe; followed by China with 22% and the United States with 10%. 4% are relative to other markets. The data for the next few quarters will be interesting also in light of the German Group's decision to reduce the production of some models due to a drop in demand.
Hildegard Wortmann, Member of the Extended Executive Committee of the Volkswagen Group with responsibility for for Sales, you commented:
We achieved a good overall performance regarding deliveries of 100% electric vehicles, with an increase of 45% in the first nine months of 2023. Despite the current low general propensity in the European market to purchase battery-powered cars, we gained share and remained the leader of the BEV segment. However, orders are lower than our ambitious targets, due to a lower-than-expected market trend.

In the first nine months of the year, the Volkswagen brand delivered 273,000 100% electric vehicles, slightly more by half of the Group's BEV deliveries. Followed by Audi with 123,000 units (23% of the Group's total BEV), SKODA with 54,400 units (10% of the Group's total BEV), SEAT/CUPRA with 32,300 units (6% of the Group's total BEV), Porsche with 27,900 units (5% of the Group's total BEV) and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles with 19,600 units (4% of the Group's total BEV).
