The countries of the European Union seem to be oriented towards a revision of the rules of the new Euro 7 standard for < strong>make them less stringent. As we have seen, the European Council approved a more comprehensive proposal. soft which, essentially, aims to maintain the limits set by Euro 6. A path that is not however concluded given that the vote of the European Parliament is still missing. Now, however, it is something new has popped up interesting.
Several large cities of the European Union do not intend to follow the Governments' line. In fact, a document promoted by the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo asks to tighten the limits of Euro 7. This document is also supported by Rome, Brussels, Zagreb, Krizevci, Bordeaux, Montpellier, Besançon and Lyon.

As reported by the French press, the signatories believe that the proposal adopted by the member countries of the ;EU at the end of September 2023 "represents a regression and a failure to integrate WHO quality standards of air and emissions from motor vehicles.”
We, representatives of the big cities European Unions which account for 75% of the European population, we cannot accept such a refusal and such a scandal.
Instead of forcing these producers to align with an ambitious standard, Europe is preparing to align with their needs and interests. Refusing to tighten the standard would condemn us to suffer the emissions of these vehicles until 2050.
If it were adopted, the Euro 7 regulation would give a license to pollute and therefore to kill, freeing itself from WHO regulations . This would be a new healthcare scandal. public on a European scale.
For this reason, the signatories ask that an ambitious standard be approved, in line with that set by the WHO. The document will have any effect on the Euro 7 approval process?
