Skoda is currently focusing its energies on developing a vRS version of the < strong>Second generation Skoda Kodiaq, presented just in the last few hours. A peculiarity of this version? The choice to maintain a 100% petrol engine.
With the introduction of the new Kodiaq, potential buyers will have the opportunity to choose between different engines: internal combustion, mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid. The top of the range version will have a turbo petrol engine with 204 HP of power combined with all-wheel drive.
Could it arrive already? IN 2024
Although there is no high-performance version at launch, sources close to Skoda, and in particular Autocar, have revealed that work is currently underway. Johannes Neft, head of technical development of the Czech car manufacturer, preferred not to reveal too much about the high performance SUV, but said: “We are working on it”.
As a further demonstration of the importance of this project for Skoda, some internal voices suggest that the success achieved by the first version of the Skoda Kodiaq vRS clearly highlights the need for of an heir. And there is who bets that we could already see it? in 2024.
UNDER THE HOOD THERE SHOULD BE A 272 HP ENGINE 
Regarding the powertrain, Neft hinted that it would not necessarily be a plug-in hybrid. The best solution It could probably be a 2-litre turbo petrol engine with 272 HP of power (the same used by the new Volkswagen Tiguan and derived from the Golf GTI engine).
This choice would guarantee a significant increase in performance compared to the previous model. We can therefore expect a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in around 5.5 seconds and a speed maximum speed of approximately 250 km/h.
DEDICATED AESTHETIC DETAILS ARE EXPECTED
On an aesthetic level, the new Skoda Kodiaq vRS will stand out from the rest. from the standard 2024 Kodiaq thanks to the presence of details such as specific bumpers, wheels with a distinctive design and contrasting elements, following in the footsteps of the Sportline version.
