Volkswagen shows its idea of an electric sports car at the Treffen in Locarno where it unveiled the new ID .X Performance. This is a performance-focused concept based on the new ID.7. Already we know that the new electric sedan will be also offered, in the future, in the GTX version. This concept, therefore, also anticipates some contents that we will be able to find on the future version. sports car of the Volkswagen ID.7 although one should not expect the production model to be as extreme as this prototype.
MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE 
In fact, for its ID.7, Volkswagen has created an extreme aerodynamic body kit that makes the electric sedan much more "bad". The car features a new bumper with a carbon fiber splitter. The same material is been used for the eye-catching rear diffuser. Volkswagen ID.X Performance also features a large rear spoiler and new side skirts. The concept can count on a set-up lowered by 60 mm, new 20-inch wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres.
Inside the cabin, we find new sports seats in carbon fiber and upholstery with contrasting red details to enhance nature sportiness of the car.
As regards the powertrain, we have two electric motorsand then all-wheel drive. The permanent magnet synchronous rear motor (should be the 210 kW one of the current ID.7) is an additional engine has been added to the front. Overall, the concept can be; count on 411 kW (558 HP). Nothing is been told about performance. The German car manufacturer only highlighted that the pair is managed by a Vehicle Dynamics Manager which also manages the operation of the rear differential.
As regards the battery, it is it has only been said that it can; recharge in direct current at powers close to 200 kW. The series version of the Volkswagen ID.7 GTX, as mentioned at the beginning, will most likely be less extreme from an aerodynamic point of view but the concept powertrain could find a place on the production model. When could the new ID.7 GTX arrive? There is no still a precise date but it is It's possible that we will have to wait until the first months of 2024.
