The company has therefore presented a “restomod” based on the Diablo from the 90s. 19 units will be produced with prices starting at 1.2 million euros (donor car excluded). The "transformation" it takes 16-18 months of work. The public debut of this car will take place at the in a few days at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
THE RESTOMOD
The project is a new project. fruit of the passion of the founder Emanuel Colombini(entrepreneur, collector and driver in the European Super Trofeo Lamborghini championship) who collaborated with the BorromeodeSilva design studio. Among the technical partners we find names such as Pirelli, Brembo, Alcantara, Capristo and Marantz. This is how Emanuel Colombini tells; his new "adventure":
Since I was a kid I remember the red Diablo on the first release of the Quattroruote head, it was love at first sight! Hardly other cars remained like this for me; imprinted in memory. Only more later, after having had the chance; to drive the GT version, I decided to pay homage to it, founding the idea of the “restomod company” around this project. At the base there is; the idea that the hyper & supercar will have more and more need in the future for a product with a sincere soul, as were the sensations one felt driving these racing cars.
The starting point of the restomod is; a "donor car" which belongs to the first series of the Diablo model. The BorromeodeSilva design studio has carried out a careful study to define the design of the car, taking inspired by the Diablo GTR.
The company says that the bodywork of the "donor car" been completely revised, with the exception of the windshield which is remained original. Bumpers, bonnets, sides and skirts have been replaced with new components. The proportions of the original car have been taken to the extreme. Length and height remained almost unchanged. unchanged while the overhangs are more; short. The roadway is been enlarged both in the front and in the rear area.
The new extractor is; was designed taking inspiration from that of the Diablo GT. The restomod can; also count on new 19-inch wheels. Eccentrica points out that several titanium elements of the restomod were made with the 3D printing technique.
The interiors have been revised with the aim of replacing all the plastic elements typical of the 90s with high-quality materials. of matrix more modern and completely overhaul the ergonomics and user experience. The dashboard is; It has been redesigned by updating its ergonomics and aesthetics, while the steering column has been redesigned. composed of a carbon rod. For the steering wheel, yes; preferred to review the original one, making it more; ergonomic and quality; upper.
The instrument panel is; completely analogwhile the graphics and controls, all physical and not digital, derive from motorsport. The restomod will be able to also count on an audio system created in collaboration with Marantz. The seats have been redesigned and feature leather and Alcantara upholstery.
THE ENGINE
The technical development of the car was carried out at the same time. still in progress. The engine The original 5.7-litre V12 was built. been revised and this work has made it possible to bring the maximum power to 550 HP with 600 Nm of torque (492 HP and 580 Nm the original values). For this supercar it is extensive use has been made of materials such as titanium and carbon to limit weight.
The company aims to thus achieve; a weight/power ratio of less than 2.9 kg/hp. In addition, for greater stability & agrave; and safety of the car, & egrave; The tubular steel frame was reinforced and stiffened. According to the first simulations, the car will be able to; accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 60 km/h. maximum speed of 335 km/h, with lateral accelerations of 1.2 g.
The restomod will be able to; also count on Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires and a specially designed Brembo braking system.
