After the historic triumph at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Ferrari 499P is preparing to get back on track . The next stage of the WEC will be; the 6 Hours of Monza which will be held in the Temple of Speed; Brianza. The track of the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza has a development of 5.793 km and thanks to its long straights, the cars in the race will reach speeds of up to 100 km. flagship among the most; high of the season. Precisely because of the high speeds, the brakes will also be heavily stressed.
At Monza, the 499Ps were the protagonists of two days of testing last February and a first contact with the track in October 2022. Thanks to the points won at Le Mans, the Ferrari team is present at the Italian event second in the Constructors' standings , with an 18-point gap over Toyota; in the Drivers' standings Pier Guidi-Calado-Giovinazzi are second, Fuoco-Molina-Nielsen fourth, respectively 25 and 40 lengths behind the leaders, while the 6 Hours of Fuji and the 8 Hours of Bahrain are missing from the World Endurance calendar as well as Monza.

The program of the 6 Hours of Monzawill start Friday 7 July when the Hypercars will be the protagonists of two free practice sessions from 11.30 to 13 and from 16.40 to 18.10; After free practice 3 on Saturday from 10.45 to 11.45, qualifying from 15.30 to 15.45 will determine the starting grid for the 6 Hours, which will start at 12.30 on Sunday 9 July.
V6 ENGINE
Awaiting the race Monza, the Prancing Horse is returned to talk about the 499P, telling something more; on the development of the V6 engine that equips the hypercar. In particular, to reveal a few more details; on the powertrain, Lucio Calogero, Endurance Race Cars Power Unit Design and Development Manager, in a dedicated short film.
The heat engine is capable of delivering a maximum power to the wheels of approximately 500 kW (680 HP) which, added to the 200 kW (272 HP) guaranteed by the electricity, allow the Power Unit of the 499P to have an installed power approaching 1000 HP. The technical regulation of the FIA WEC, however, requires limiting the power delivered at any moment to approximately 500 kW overall.
The six-cylinder, 3-litre displacement, has a angle between the two ‘V’ equal to 120°, and the turbos are arranged inside the two banks. All the components are structural, they have been redesigned specifically for the 499P to make it a load-bearing engine, i.e. representing an essential part of the chassis itself. Furthermore, the specific application in competitions has made it possible to develop new concepts which in the future could serve as technological precursors for road applications.
