Triumph has unveiled the new Speed ​​400 and Scrambler 400 X. These are the latest additions to the British manufacturer's Modern Classics range. SINGLE-CYLINDER ENGINE

Both of the two new models are born around a cooled single-cylinder 398 cc engine liquid, combined with a 6-speed gearbox. The manufacturer declares for this unit; a maximum power of 40 HP at 8,000 rpm with 37.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.

The new Speed ​​400 joins the older sisters Speed ​​Twin 900 and 1200, while the Scrambler 400 X draws inspiration for its design from that of the Scrambler 900 and 1200. Some components of the bikes explicitly recall the tradition of the English brand, such as the finishes of the engine, cylinder head or exhaust terminal. The liveries chosen for the Speed ​​400 are in two shades, with Triumph graphics on the tank, to reflect the roadster attitude that characterizes it. You can have in Carnival Red, Caspian Blue and Phantom Black colors.

Instead, the all-road look of the Scrambler 400 X is reflected in some additional equipment, such as protections reserved for the front headlight and radiator, hand guards and an oversized front mudguard. This model will be proposed in Matt Khaki Green & Fusion White, Carnival Red & Phantom Black, or Phantom Black & Silver Ice.

The technical basis of the two bikes is; very similar and the frame is also very similar. in common. However, the two bikes have different chassis dimensions. The Speed ​​400 is; equipped at the front with a 43 mm big-piston upside-down fork, while at the rear a monoshock system with external tank is mounted. The 17-inch wheels are made of aluminum. Instead, the Scrambler 400 X has a shorter wheelbase. longer and longer travel suspension, a larger 19-inch diameter front wheel and a wider handlebar; wide, for greater control during light off-road driving. The front brake has a diameter of 320 mm and features differentiated compound pads to make braking easier. progressive and easily modulated.

Both bikes can count on a complete set of electronics. In particular, the electronic management of the engine and the accelerator are entrusted to Bosch, and through the ride-by-wire technology, the delivery of the response of the single cylinder takes place in a linear way.

These two models also offer a traction control system that can be deactivated. Also featured is Bosch dual-channel ABS. The new Triumphs adopt a split instrument panel that includes a large analogue speedometer and an integrated LCD screen that provides additional information such as odometer, remaining range, gear engaged. Both bikes have LED lights. Speed ​​400 weighs 170 kg, Scrambler 400 X 179 kg.
