Culture. The actor Ingvar Hirdwall, who played the legendary neighbor in the Beck films, died yesterday at the age of 88.

Hirdwall played years 1976 The man on the roof in the lavish Beck film of the same name, directed by Bo Widerberg.
He then appeared as a regular feature in the more recent Beck films of the 1990s and 2000s, playing Martin Beck's neighbor Valdemar.
– Do you want a sprinkler? was Valdemar's constant question to Martin Beck in the films.
However, Hirdwall also did other than Beck films.
In 2003, he was awarded a Guldbagge for best supporting actor for the film Om jag mig meg um , and in 2004 with the Swedish Academy's theater award.
In the fall of 2006, he held the lead role in Stockholm City Theatre's production of Harold Pinter's work Homecoming.
