Domestic. Nuclear power critic Tomas Kåberger may leave state-owned Vattenfall's board. It is taking place after pressure from the Sweden Democrats, according to SvD Näringsliv.

“I don't want to go into the full details of the name issues, but I can say that we left requests to addition and has been clear that Kåberger should be removed,” writes Tobias Andersson (SD), chairman of the economic committee, to SvD.

Instead, the government is bringing in nuclear experts to the board, such as Ingemar Engkvist, who was previously CEO of the World Association of Nuclear Operators.

– The government's ambition is for Vattenfall to play an important role in the future so that Sweden can once again have a stable, robust and predictable electricity supply. Therefore, the government is nominating a board with three new members to strengthen the company's conditions, equip Vattenfall as a company and take important steps for more nuclear power, says Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (M).

Tomas Kåberger, who is allowed to leave the board, is a known opponent of nuclear power. He is a professor at Chalmers and former director general of the Swedish Energy Agency.

The former left-wing leader Jonas Sjöstedt writes on Twitter that it is a political purge.

“He always argues factually and with facts , which our blue-brown government apparently cannot handle”, writes Sjöstedt.

Aftonbladet's lead writer Anders Lindberg is also critical of Kåberger being poked.

“SD does not intend to accept the principle that people should appointed based on merit and skill. Just started,” he tweets.
