Mayor Anne Hidalgo called the referendum due to an increasing number of accidents involving e-scooters.
Almost 90 percent of those who voted on Sunday supported the proposal to ban e-scooters for hire.
The result of the vote is not binding, but Hidalgo has promised to respect it.
E-scooter rental companies tried to stop the ban by offering more restrictions, but that doesn't seem to have affected the outcome.
Privately owned electric scooters will not be affected by the ban.
Montreal in Canada introduced a similar ban in 2020.
