– I am very impressed by the Danish work, of how extremely structured and purposeful they work with this and how quickly through legislation and a new authority they have managed to achieve a much better result for voluntary return, says Maria Malmer Stenergard to TT.

She notes that 75 percent of those who have their asylum application rejected in Denmark leave the country voluntarily, compared to just over half in Sweden.

The minister is also open to Sweden having its own authority for (voluntary) repatriation .

Malmer Stenergard believes that the form of accommodation for asylum seekers is a key issue and advocates gathering in special asylum accommodation and exit centers for those who are denied asylum but refuse to leave the country. This is how it looks in Denmark, and this is how it will also be in Sweden according to the Tidö Agreement. Stenegård hopes that this will be launched before the next election, writes TT.
