Weekend viewing tips: Noise, Agent Elvis, Ted Lasso and more


At iCulture we regularly write about streaming video services and useful features to get more out of these services. But what are you going to watch on your Apple devices? We pay attention to that in this section. You can watch various new films and series this weekend. We hardly watch traditional TV anymore. Streaming video services such as Apple TV+ (try for free), Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video are more important than ever. But local providers such as NLZiet (two weeks free!), Videoland, CineMember and Ziggo also have plenty to offer. More series are added every week and it is so nice if you know which series, films and documentaries really stand out. We have therefore made a selection.

New at Apple TV+: Ted Lasso (S03)

We wrote about it earlier this week: Ted Lasso is back! And for the last time, because after season 3, the bumbling football coach, whose heart is in the right place, is over. In the first episode of Season 3, AFC Richmond are met with skepticism: everyone thinks they will be last in the Premier League.

New at Apple TV+: Extrapolations

Drama series with Meryl Streep and Edward Norton, about a world where the consequences of climate change are getting worse. In 2037, the air quality on earth will be so bad that children will only be allowed to play outside for fifteen minutes. Filmmaker Scott Z. Burns makes it clear in Extrapolations that the world is ending. The series offers a bleak look at a future in which the Paris Agreements of 2015 have been ignored. Showing a series of characters what their lives are like under these circumstances. The first three episodes can be seen now, the rest will follow weekly.

Boston Strangler

A true crime thriller about the trailblazing journalists who broke the story of the infamous Boston Strangler murders: Record-American reporter Loretta McLaughlin and her colleague and confidant Jean Cole. As the killer continues to make victims, the duo bravely investigate and risk their lives to find out the truth.

Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming with Dave Letterman

U2's Bono and The Edge return to Dublin with David Letterman and reflect on their journey as musicians and friends. This special features never-before-seen footage and interviews that talk in-depth about the process behind the creation of their songs and the inspiration behind their greatest hits. With this documentary, director Morgan Neville sketches the story of one of the most special friendships in the history of rock and roll.

    Belgian-Dutch thriller film, in which a man goes to live close to his demented father. He soon stumbles upon some dark family secrets. The Flemish Matthias (Ward Kerremans) returns to the house where he was born to take care of his demented father Pol (Johan Leysen) in a nearby rest home. For his down-to-earth Dutch girlfriend Liv (Sallie Harmsen) it is a new beginning in unknown territory.

    Agent Elvis

    Animated comedy series co-created by Priscilla Presley. Musician Elvis Presley (voiced by Matthew McConaughey) goes to work as a spy. The pop star's life takes a bizarre turn when he is recruited by the secret service and has to fight against all kinds of evil forces. Meanwhile, he’s also trying to build his career as a musician po. The series also features the voices of Don Cheadle, Kaitlin Olson, Johnny Knoxville, Niecy Nash and Priscilla Presley herself.

Dom (S02)

Dom tells the story of Pedro, a handsome, middle-class boy from Rio de Janeiro who, in his teens, comes into contact with cocaine, which leads him to become the leader of a criminal gang that made headlines in Rio in the early 2000s. mastered: Pedro Dom. Dom also follows Pedro's father Victor Dantas, who, as a teenager, makes a discovery at the bottom of the sea, reports it to the authorities and eventually joins the police intelligence service. The series depicts the journey of father and son who live opposite lives, often mirroring and complementing each other, as both face situations that blur the lines between good and evil.
