It's been a while since we've paid attention to a Kickstarter project. Not much can go wrong with this project. ESR is a well-known manufacturer of bicycle holders, among other things, and the collection via Kickstarter has already raised almost tenfold. But as always with Kickstarter, you always run the risk of losing your money.
In terms of appearance, this ESR HaloLock Geo Wallet Stand takes some getting used to. It bears no resemblance to Apple's Wallet case in any way. It therefore has a lot of built-in functionality. You can put cards in it, but there is also an eye to put your finger in. And you can ‘m use it as a stand to watch videos’, with an angle between 15° and 170°, both in portrait and landscape mode.
This wallet case is connected to your iPhone via Bluetooth and plays an alarm sound to let you know where it is. If you lose the case outside the home, others with an iPhone can help you find it. You can then look up the location via Apple's Find My network, just like with an AirTag.
Inside there is room for three cards. You will not lose it so quickly, because the magnet clamps to your iPhone with a force comparable to 1,500 grams. That's twice the power of Apple's MagSafe wallet. It has a rechargeable battery that lasts for three months. All those functions ensure that this cover has become quite thick. You can no longer place the iPhone with the back down flat on the table.
Minor: this cover is made of fake leather, not the fine leather that Apple chooses. And you can choose from only two colors: midnight or caramel brown.
