It was on October 16, 2022 that Tove was reported missing when she did not return home after a night out.

The preliminary investigation into suspected kidnapping began on October 17, 2022. On the same day, an 18-year-old was arrested and a 20-year-old woman suspected of involvement in the disappearance.

After extensive investigative work, Tove was found dead in a forest area outside Vetlanda on November 2, 2022. The preliminary investigation then came to include suspicion of murder and violation of grave peace.

< p>According to the indictment, the 21-year-old must have been strangled to death. The body was then transported out into the forest and set on fire.

Now the 18-year-old and the 20-year-old are being charged with murder and grave breach of peace. According to the prosecutor, they committed the acts jointly and in agreement.

– The police have carried out a thorough investigation and I consider myself to have a clear picture of the sequence of events and the suspects' involvement. The investigation suggests that the deceased 21-year-old and the suspected 20-year-old had a conflict-filled relationship, but no further motive has been clarified, says prosecutor Adam Rullman.
