After questioning the perpetrator in connection with the first suspicion hearing in the case from Tyresö, the prosecutor opted for a decision to top up to compare with analysis answers from the plaintiff.

This gave a breakthrough in the case from 2016 where sperm was found and where the crime and the approach was the same – rape of a lonely woman when she took a black taxi after a night out. However, the investigation was closed as there were no traces of the perpetrator, until now.

– Then there was a mobile number to call which led us to the suspect. After questioning, we were able to dna-top him. Then the pieces started to fall into place, not only in our case but in several, says Anders Forsberg, serious crime handler, police area Stockholm south, on the police's website.

In the ongoing investigation from the rape in Tyresö, the police have also found a third plaintiff from a rape in November 2022, where yet another woman has taken a black taxi after a night out. During the journey, the driver stopped and raped the woman in the car, this time in central Stockholm.

– Thanks to her swishing the suspect for the ride, we managed to link him to the plaintiff. We still recognize today that we are dealing with a serial rapist and we continue to search for more plaintiffs. Unfortunately, not everyone reports the crime, so the number of blackouts can be large, says Anton Robéns, case manager and investigator for serious crimes, police area Stockholm south.

The suspect is now involved in a total of three cases. One from 2016, one from October 2022 and one from November 2022. He is in custody awaiting sentencing.
