The background to the verdict is a comment on Twitter where Sjunnesson described robbery of the elderly as “a Roma specialty”.

It was the animal torturer Tomas Åberg, former project manager at Nähatsgranskaren, who reported the post to the police as incitement against ethnic groups.

p>Jan Sjunnesson is sentenced by the Varberg district court to a suspended sentence and a fine of just over SEK 13,000 for the crime of opinion.

He himself states that he has read about the police group Circa, which specializes in mapping aging crimes and their perpetrators, and that he based his comment on that information.

– In the book “Roma in Sweden” by Karl-Olov Arnstberg, the head of the Circa group at the time says that it is a type of crime that is almost always committed by Roma, says Sjunnesson to the Bulletin.

He calls incitement against ethnic groups a “rubber paragraph” which “prevents urgent conversations about, for example, criminal ethnic groups”.
