The LG UltraGear 49GR85DC in detail

The curved VA panel of the UltraGear 49GR85DC-B is said to achieve a typical contrast ratio of 2,500:1 and a typical brightness of 450 cd/m². However, the backlight should offer at least 1000 cd/m² selectively, i.e. for a small area of the display. According to LG, this is what the certification according to the VESA standard DisplayHDR 1000 says.

In the same breath, the associated high power consumption should be mentioned: According to LG, the monitor should require up to 240 watts, even the typical power consumption of 90 watts is already at a very high level.

A variable synchronization of the refresh rate with the frame rate of the graphics card is possible via AMD FreeSync and VRR via HDMI 2.1. The latter interface is available twice, plus a DisplayPort 1.4 and two USB-A ports. USB-C, on the other hand, is not available. There is also a 4-pin connection for headphones and microphone at the bottom edge of the display.

LG advertises a “Gaming UI” on its website, which can be used, for example, to select profiles for different game genres. The design with RGB LED lighting on the back should also appeal to gamers in particular. The monitor can be tilted, swiveled horizontally and adjusted in height.
