Thanks to an AirTag, the Limburg police managed to find two stolen cars. The owner had previously been a victim of car theft and had therefore placed an AirTag.

Stolen car found thanks to AirTag

There are regular stories about people who were able to find their belongings in a ravine thanks to Apple products or using the AirTag. Usually this takes place in distant countries, but there is now an incident closer to home: in Limburg. The owner of a Peugeot 3008 noticed the theft of his car and called the police. Thanks to the AirTag, he was able to pinpoint the current whereabouts of the car quite accurately: a warehouse in Eygelshoven, near Kerkrade.

The agents indeed found the Peugeot 3008 in the shed, which had already been partially dismantled. In addition, another stolen car was found, a Porsche 991 Targa 4 GTS with a new value of around 187,000 euros. The police arrested two people who were present in the shed. They will have to answer to the judge later, but the police do not exclude that more people will be arrested later. Apparently, the thieves had not (yet) been notified that an AirTag was traveling with them. The theft had therefore only happened a few hours earlier.

The AirTag is therefore not only a useful tool for finding your suitcase at Schiphol, but also for keeping track of your other stuff. With a car you can hide the AirTag in all kinds of places, while with a bicycle you can use handy holders in the form of a reflector or bicycle bell.
