Law & Justice. The 17-year-old who murdered MED politician and father of three Fredrik Andersson at a gym in Stockholm has now received his punishment. With reference to his young age, he is sentenced to closed youth care for 2 years and 11 months.

The total penalty value 17 -year-old's crime would have amounted to 18 years for an adult, according to the Stockholm district court.
But now he gets a really strong penalty discount because of his age.
He also cannot deported to his native Armenia. The 17-year-old was granted Swedish citizenship when he was on the run in his home country – while he was being hunted for the murder by the police in Sweden.
It was on March 28, 2022 that Fredrik Andersson was shot to death at a gym in Vasastan in Stockholm. A man dressed in black with a mask and a gun ran into the gym and fired three shots. One of the shots hit Andersson in the head and he died of his injuries.
According to the prosecutor, it was another gang criminal man who was in the gym at the time who was the real target.
After the shooting, the shooter ran out of the gym, jumped into a car and drove to an apartment outside of town. DNA from the 17-year-old was found on the car. In the apartment, the murder weapon and a mouth guard were found with DNA from both the 17-year-old and the murder victim.
In a combined assessment, the district court has concluded that the evidence in the form of i.a. DNA matches, identification data and comparative images from surveillance footage are of such strength that it is beyond reasonable doubt that the 17-year-old, then 16, is the perpetrator. He is therefore convicted of murder.
However, the 17-year-old is acquitted of attempted murder of another man on the same occasion. The district court judges that the evidence is not sufficient to prove that the 17-year-old and the three other accused men had a joint criminal plan to kill the designated target. The 17-year-old is therefore acquitted of attempted murder and the three men are acquitted of aiding and abetting the crime. The three men are also acquitted of aiding and abetting murder.
The district court also sentences the 17-year-old to public destruction. From the evidence in the form of DNA matches, telephone connections and witness statements, it is beyond reasonable doubt that the 17-year-old threw a hand grenade into a restaurant in central Stockholm on March 20, 2022. He is also sentenced for serious weapons offences.
The penalty for the 17-year-old is determined to be closed youth care for 2 years and 11 months.
Two of the other accused men are sentenced to prison for, among other things, drug offenses .
The 17-year-old must pay compensation to the next of kin of the murder victim and to an insurance company for damage to the restaurant.
