Something to look forward to: Apple would have plans to release a redesigned HomePod with a new design. It also includes a screen.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple wants to give the current HomePod a major redesign. The device will have a built-in 7-inch screen. Kuo is betting that the device will be released in the first half of 2024. In a post to Medium, Kuo writes that the new model offers even greater integration with Apple's other hardware products. The screens of the device will presumably be made by Tianma. This company will therefore benefit greatly from Apple's new smart home strategy, Kuo reports.
If the cooperation with Tianma is satisfactory, this company could also supply the iPad screen panels. This is a new supplier of Apple. Kuo predicts that the same growth can be expected that we have previously seen with suppliers BYD Electronics and BOE: they start with simple products and receive more and more orders, including for high-end products. Currently, Tianma produces screen panels for Android smartphones. The capacity is currently full, but the company undoubtedly wants to make some room for Apple. Kuo predicts that Tianma's revenue and profit will exceed market expectations by 2023.
HomePod with screen in 2024
For us, however, is more interesting: when will that HomePod come with a screen? A release in 2024 seems to be taking shape. There has been talk of a HomePod with more functionality for much longer. Two years ago we wrote that Apple is working on a new product that combines the Apple TV and HomePod speaker. This would be a new device for your television, which also contains a HomePod speaker and a camera for video calling.
Bloomberg has already emphasized three times that Apple wants to develop a combination between the HomePod and Apple TV with camera. According to Mark Gurman, Apple would have encountered problems during development, but the idea has not yet been put on hold. According to his sources, the product should have appeared in 2023, but that does not seem to be happening anymore. The fact that Kuo is now talking about a release in 2024 fits in with this timeline. However, Kuo does not speak of a combination of HomePod with Apple TV, but simply of a HomePod with display. You could use such a screen for video calling.
