All Honda Type Rs have always had something special and were able to offer an driving experience of the highest level to the lucky ones who were able to get behind the wheel. The latest Civic Type R isn't the only thing you've ever seen. less, a sports car capable not only of being effective and very fast around the bends of a trackbut also fun to drive on all roads. A car that lives up to expectations, not even when you have to face a session on the track in the worst possible conditions.
ON THE TRACK, IT GOES WILD
We had the great opportunity to send you a message. to be able to test the new Civic Type R on the track and precisely on the Imola circuit. A truly unrepeatable opportunity to fully test the great potential of the company. of this sports car that finds its natural environment in the curves of the circuits.
It's a pity, however, that the weather did everything to complicate the few laps we had available at the wheel of the Japanese sports car (4 considering also the entry and return to the pits). Already; why? we found ourselves in really bad conditions. Wind, outside temperature that fluctuated between 2 and 3 degrees and rainwith a little of sleet that occasionally made its appearance.

The Imola track is not; certainly simple, very technical and the copious rain that was falling required a different approach to driving. Fortunately, we always had a JAS Motorsport driver by our side who explained to us how to approach the circuit in these very specific conditions. Forbidden to take the external curbs, approach to the most difficult curves. sweet and above all guide the most; possible in the middle of the track to avoid unpleasant surprises.
After a sighting lap to take measurements of the circuit in certainly not optimal conditions, we immediately tried to push a little. Along the straight in front of the pits, with the Civic Type R, even in the rain and without exaggerating, we almost reached 200 km/h. In the Tamburello variant the stability is greatly appreciated; under braking of the new Type R. Even with the asphalt full of water, the car does not break down, always remaining well manageable.

The credit obviously goes to the great work done by Honda in developing the set-up of this car. Help, however, also comes from the electronics, which promptly intervene when there is a tendency to exaggerate a little, as is the case with me. happened, for example, when I faced a little Gresini too cheerfully, sending the Type R into oversteer, risking a spin. No problem, however, because; the sports car recovers easily and is back on the right trajectory in a few moments.
As you gain confidence, you appreciate more and more; the delivery and thrust of the engine, as well as the great precision of the 6-speed manual gearbox developed by Honda. Turn after turn, you feel like pushing harder and harder; but the "head" reminds us that it is; better not to overdo it given the bad conditions of the asphalt.

Finiti the laps at our disposal we realize that the Type R is; model that is part of an endangered breedto be preserved with care. A true sportswoman, capable of entertaining and involving. It is therefore not surprising that the cars destined for the Italian market are already; sold out.
THE LAST OF ITS KIND
The Honda technicians started from the great work already done; carried out on the eleventh generation of the Civic to get to perfect every single detail, thus giving; life to the new Type R. The sports car measures 4,594 mm long x 1,890 mm wide x 1,401 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,734 mm. Therefore, compared to the hybrid Civic, the new sports car is; more depth of 8 mm and more; 90 mm wide, and is; more depth of 13 mm and more; 15 mm wider than the previous Type R.
The larger wheel arches hide 19-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 265/30R/19 special compound tyres. The Japanese engineers have done a great job developing the aerodynamics of this car. Every detail is perfect. functional to improve the load of the new Type R. For example, as Honda explains, the new front fenders, which have a large duct behind the wheel, help to reduce the pressure inside the wheel arch.
The airflow from these ducts is guided the full length of the car through the side skirts, before being directed away from the wheel arches and rear by the small spoiler located at the far end. side skirts.
At the rear, however, we find a new diffuser which, in combination with the new spoiler, further increases downforce and at the same time helps reduce air resistance. The sportswoman can; also count on a new Brembo braking system with revised brake ducts and a new mechanical master cylinder.
The passenger compartment is; clearly inspired by racing while retaining the setting of the latest generation of the Civic. The session is more 8 mm lower than the previous version of Type R. Then we find new-concept sports seats designed not only to better support the driver's torso on the track but also to offer good comfort during everyday use.
There is not even a lot of technology missing, starting with the new digital instrumentation with customizable graphics. Using the mode; driving mode +R, only the information essential for track-oriented driving is shown. Instead, the mode is Individual allows the pilot to customize the display layout according to his preferences.
Among the new features; made available by the manufacturer exclusively for this model, we find the Honda Log R 2.0, a data logger integrated into the infotainment system that collects driving information from the numerous sensors mounted on the vehicle. car. A very useful app for those who enjoy using their car on the track.
NEW TURBO VTEC
For this new generation of the sports car, the 4-cylinder 2.0 Turbo VTEC been further improved. Thanks to the use of a series of technologies derived from the world of motorsport, Honda engineers have improved power, torque and responsiveness. All the refinement work that is This task has allowed this engine to deliver 329 HP at 6,500 rpm, with a torque of 420 Nm at 2,200 rpm which remains available up to 4,000 rpm. The red zone starts at 7,000 rpm.
The engine is built with a high-performance engine. then combined with a new six-speed manual transmission developed to make it even more comfortable; quick and precise gear changes. It also features a rev-match system with auto-blip function that ensures perfect rev matching when downshifting, helping to balance the car as you enter corners.
For the new Civic Type R, Honda declares a speed; maximum speed of 275 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.
