Inna Sovsun, former Deputy Minister of Culture , has tabled the proposal in Ukraine's parliament.
“I could say that this is what our Western allies demand of us – and it's true, they do,” writes Sovsun on Facebook.

However, she goes on to state that 56 percent of Ukrainians agree that homosexuals should have the right to civil partnerships.
“As a society, we have matured beyond the 'Russian swamp' and the Soviet worldview,” writes Inna Sovsun, who belongs to the liberal party Holos.
She also refers to the fact that many LGBTQ soldiers risk their lives in the fight against Russia.
The bill is the result of nine months of work involving two NGOs. The law would create legal grounds for people in same-sex relationships to regulate property ownership, inheritance, pensions and death benefits, according to Inna Sovsun.
