The party proposes that the finance minister should call the three largest grocery stores to reach an agreement.

– The starting point must be the basic goods that we need to survive. Fruit vegetables, baby food, nappies. Today, it is three large food oligarchs who control the prices in Sweden. They have swelling profit margins, says V leader Nooshi Dadgostar to SVT Nyheter.

V wants to see a similar agreement as in France, where the price ceiling on certain food products has been decided by the government and the food chains.

If the food chains cannot agree, legislation is needed, according to Nooshi Dadgostar.

According to the Left Party, the market does not work as it should and free pricing of food does not exist in practice in Sweden.

– They most families today feel that grocery stores just raise and raise prices. It is on common products such as coffee, fruit and bread and something must be done, says Nooshi Dadgostar to SVT.
