Deutsche Telekom: Loyalty bonus to turn fixed-line customers into mobile customers

Deutsche Telekom wants to win long-standing fixed-line customers as mobile customers with a “loyalty bonus”. Depending on the term in the fixed network, new customers of a MagentaMobil tariff receive a bonus of up to 500 euros, which is offset against the term of the new contract. Double existing customers get nothing.

“Loyalty has to pay off, we learned that from numerous customer talks,” said Torsten Brodt, responsible for mobile communications and convergence at Telekom Deutschland , to announce the action. Convergence means that customers sign up for both fixed and mobile services from the same provider.

Action starts on April 4

Specifically, the loyalty bonus starts on April 4th with the booking of a new MagentaMobil tariff in sizes XS to XL with a term of 24 months and leads to a bonus of 100 euros in the first year when using a fixed network and internet connection eligible for MagentaEINS. The authorization is displayed in the customer center and in the MeinMagenta app. This offer for entry into both segments of Deutsche Telekom also applies to new customers. Telekom rewards each additional year of loyalty with a further bonus, so that this continuously increases to a maximum of 500 euros for 15 years of use. The loyalty bonus increases by 25 euros per year of the previous term in the fixed network. On the other hand, long-standing customers who are already on the landline and mobile network (MagentaEINS) with Telekom will get nothing.

Mobile radio for up to 15 months free of charge use

Using a sample calculation, Telekom explains the price effect on one of the two tariffs. Because the bonus generated via loyalty in the fixed network is only credited to the mobile phone contract. If, for example, the MagentaMobil XS is booked with the landline contract, which normally costs EUR 34.95 per month, but drops to EUR 29.99 with MagentaEINS, the one-time provision price and the monthly basic fees for 15 months can be offset with a maximum loyalty bonus of EUR 500. If the MagentaMobil L is selected, the mobile phone contract can be used free of charge for the first eight months for up to 500 euros. After the loyalty bonus has been used up, the regular basic price applies minus a 5 euro MagentaEINS price advantage.

The advantages of MagentaEINS

In addition to the reduced basic price, MagentaEINS leads to the advantages that were already valid before the new campaign, such as double the data volume, with the MagentaMobil L being switched from 40 GB to an unlimited data volume. MagentaEINS customers can also make free calls from landlines to all German mobile networks.

Bonus does not apply to PlusKarte

The loyalty bonus is only credited to the primary user of the mobile phone contract and can be used there in addition to the basic charges and the provision price for additional connection prices, roaming costs or costs for additional options booked. Third-party services and end device one-time prices are not offset against the loyalty bonus. PlusCards booked in addition to the main card are not offset against the loyalty bonus. A cash payment is also not possible. Once the loyalty bonus has been used, it is no longer possible to save it again.
