US inflation is rising again

Economics. The US central bank Federal Reserve's index for core inflation, core PCE, increased to 4.7 percent at an annual rate in January. It was clearly higher than the expected 4.3 percent, reports CNBC.

The announcement from the US caused the Stockholm Stock Exchange and other European stock exchanges to fall on Friday afternoon.< /p>

On an annual basis, food prices rose 11.1 percent in the U.S., while energy prices rose 9.6 percent.

The Fed closely tracks PCE inflation as this index adjusts for consumer spending habits and is considered to provide a more accurate picture of the cost of living.
