Sharkoon RGB Hex: Six fans in the midi tower with hexagon decoration

Sharkoon places large ornamental hexagons with a 3D look in front of small mesh hexagons in the front of the RGB Hex midi tower. The housing is also supplied with six RGB fans for rapid air exchange should ensure. However, you have to take a closer look at the CPU cooler.

Full of hexagons and an HDD cage

The eye-catching design is paired with the standard midi tower layout. The power supply unit and a full-fledged HDD cage, which has two individual 3.5″ slots, are located in the lower compartment of the RGB Hex. In 2023 this is no longer a guaranteed matter in the middle price segment. This compartment closes with the side wall of the housing, there is no separate power supply shroud behind glass here.

This allows Sharkoon to keep the glass window a little smaller and thus create the impression of a completely closed substructure. If necessary, this construction also saves production costs by reducing the number of individual parts – it is used more in the lower-priced product segment. For a price of around 85 euros, two USB 3.0 ports, an audio connection and a USB 3.1 port with Type-C connector are included in the equipment list. 2.5″ hard drives can also be attached in four brackets, which can be placed on the power supply compartment and behind the mainboard.

Six RGB fans with a diameter of 120 millimeters and an RGB controller for eight lamps can also be implemented. Alternatively, a 280 mm radiator can be installed under the lid, which may be 55 millimeters high including the fans. A radiator/fan package with a height of 64 millimeters and a 360 mm heat exchanger fits behind the front.

Coolers need mindfulness

Graphics cards and power supplies in the upper compartment of the RGB Hex are practically not limited. CPU coolers can be 158 millimeters high. This means one limitation: If heat sinks are used in tower format, according to the price comparison, more than 100 models with a height of 160 and more millimeters are currently out of the ordinary, including the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 (review). Noctua's NH-D15 or UH-U14S also need more space than is available in the RGB hex. It is therefore necessary to take a look at the size information.

The case can already be purchased from the first dealers at the recommended price.
