In 2022, 822 kilos of cocaine were stopped compared to 261 kilos in 2021. Seizures of amphetamine increased at the same time from 330 kilos to 548 kilos.
Seizures of tramadol and other narcotic drugs also increased greatly.
Tramadol is a narcotic drug that contains a synthetic opioid. Last year, almost 997,000 tablets were seized, compared to almost 726,000 tablets in 2021. The seizures of tablets in the category of other narcotics and narcotic drugs also increased dramatically, from just over 1,076,000 tablets in 2021 to just over 2,738,000 tablets in 2022.
On the other hand, seizures of alcohol decreased. Last year, roughly 101,000 liters of alcoholic beverages were seized. In 2021, more than twice as much was seized, a total of almost 217,000 liters.
Even the seizures of cigarettes decreased from almost 12,699,000 cigarettes in 2021 to almost 5,580,000 last year. According to the Customs, the reduction in cigarette seizures may partly be due to changed transport flows due to the Ukraine war, as a lot of smuggled cigarettes used to come from Belarus.
Last year, the Customs seized 64 edged firearms. This is a decrease compared to 2021 when 85 edged firearms were seized. On the other hand, seizures of explosive goods increased. In total, almost 49,000 explosive items, mainly so-called bangers, were seized last year. In 2021, less than half as many were seized, a total of just over 22,000.
