NAS: Synology launches its own online shop

Synology has started its own online shop and will therefore also be able to sell its own products directly to end customers in the future. Under the slogan “Buy essentials directly from Synology”, Synology initially offers certified memory modules, add-on cards, rack rails and spare parts for its own NAS systems “>No NAS systems for direct sale yet

Synology currently does not offer its own NAS systems and routers, nor does it offer drives equipped with its own firmware via the online shop, although both SSDs and HDDs are sold. The shop's website is already titled “Your shop for Synology accessories and routers”, at least routers like the new Synology WRX560 or the Wi-Fi 6 mesh flagship Synology RT6600ax (test) could soon also have the manufacturer's own shop be available.

Lots of choices for memory modules

When it comes to memory modules, Synology offers DDR3 and DDR4 modules from 4 gigabytes as SODIMM, RDIMM or UDIMM. Depending on the storage technology, the offer goes up to modules with up to 64 GB. In order to make the choice easier for the customer and to avoid bad purchases, Synology lists the system for which each module is suitable. If you buy the certified modules from Synology, you sometimes pay a not insignificant surcharge compared to online trading.

Additional cards for M.2 and LAN

In the case of additional cards for additional M.2 slots or faster network interfaces, on the other hand, customers must find out in advance on the respective product pages whether use in their own NAS system is possible . The E10G22-T1-Mini expansion card, which can be used in the new DS923+ (test) and DS723+ (test), for example, costs 148.75 euros at Synology. In online trading, it is hardly listed cheaper from 142.50 euros. At 11.95 euros for the additional card, the shipping costs directly from Synology are high.

Synology offers free shipping for orders over 200 euros and grants a 30-day right of return purchased products. You can currently pay by credit card or SEPA direct debit.
