The background is information that appears in an article in Fokus about abuses at the Migration Agency, which is described as a “failed authority”.
Several of the problems raised in the article – the the deficient quality of decision-making documents, the pressure on employees to make as many positive decisions as possible and the poor background checks of employees – are, according to SD, well documented from before.
– It is worrying that sources are emerging that testify that the authority can easily be infiltrated by a foreign power and that unauthorized strikes occur regularly. This at the same time as other sources testify that a large part of the staff do not understand the Swedish language and in the service discuss matters in a language that everyone involved does not understand, says Ludvig Aspling, migration policy spokesperson for SD, in a press release.
He continues:
– The Migration Agency must adhere to laws and regulations, both when it is to the advantage and disadvantage of the individual. An authority that has such sensitive tasks, and whose way of functioning has such an enormous impact on Sweden, must take its mission more seriously than what is happening now. Ultimately, today's situation is a serious problem for trust in Sweden as a rule of law. We must carry out a proper review of the Swedish Migration Agency.
As recently as yesterday, the news came that Mikael Ribbenvik has not been reappointed by the government as Director General of the Swedish Migration Agency.
