A week ago, Apple released two software updates: one for the Apple TV and one for the HomePod. In it, Apple stated that some bug fixes have been fixed and that performance has improved, but apparently that was not enough. Now Apple has again released two updates, again for the Apple TV and HomePod. tvOS 16.3.2 is available for all recent Apple TV models, while HomePod 16.3.2 is available for all HomePod models.

The latest update for the Apple TV has build number 20K672, replacing tvOS 16.3.1 20K661. In any case, the update brings bug fixes, although it is currently not clear which bug fixes this is exactly. With the previous update, we still hoped that the connection problems with the Siri Remote and the Apple TV would finally be resolved, but that turned out not to be the case. Hopefully the new update will bring good news in this area, although we don't know that yet.

Issues persist with latest Siri Remote and Apple TV: Try these tips

For several months now, there have been many problems with the connection between the Apple TV and the latest Siri Remote. The problem seems to be with the Siri Remote with USB-C, which comes with the Apple TV 2022. There are some tips to (temporarily) solve the problem, but Apple itself still hasn't solved the problems on their side fixed.

In the tvOS 16.3.2 release notes, Apple says:

This update includes general performance and stability improvements.

For the HomePod, this also concerns software update 16.3.2. The update fixes an issue where Siri requests for HomeKit could not be processed properly. Since a number of updates, Siri times out, with the assistant indicating that there was a problem with the request. If you ask again immediately afterwards to turn on your lights, for example, it will work again without any problems. So in HomePod 16.3.2 this problem should be solved. Therefore, the release notes of the HomePod update are as follows:

This update resolves an issue where Siri requests for smart homes may fail, and also includes general performance and stability improvements.

Apple also released iOS 16.3.1 and iPadOS 16.3.1 today, again with several bug fixes. Updates have also been released for other devices:

  • iOS 16.3.1 and iPadOS 16.3.1
  • macOS Ventura 13.2.1
  • tvOS 16.3.2 and HomePod 16.3.2
