A major conflict arose in August last year in connection with Kajsa Ekis Ekman getting a job as editor-in-chief of the left-wing newspaper Arbetaren.
The feature in Kulturnyheterna in SVT dealt with the situation and contained criticism which according to the review committee should have been dealt with.
It was Kajsa Ekis Ekman herself who reported the feature and had several views on the content.
An editor at Kulturnyheterna had to comment on Ekis Ekman's actions in the feature social media as well as attributed to her views on Putin and the “trans movement”. According to the editor, she had, among other things, an “overflattering attitude towards Putin's Russia”.
These evaluative descriptions were, in the review board's opinion, “of such a nature that it required an opportunity for consideration”. Since Kajsa Ekis Ekman was not given the opportunity to give her view on the matter, the feature goes against the requirement of impartiality, the committee writes.
