Mazda CX-80 to debut in Europe by the end of 2023

Mazda's growth strategy also involves the launch of new SUV models which are increasingly; required on the market. In Europe, the Japanese car manufacturer already has launched the CX-60 that we have recently had the opportunity to test with the diesel engine. By the end of the year, on the other hand, the manufacturer has confirmed that it will make its debut on the market. the CX-80, substantially a more advanced version; spaciousness of the CX-60 which will offer; the possibility; to be able to accommodate up to 7 passengers on board.

According to what Martjin ten Brink told Automotive News Europe, responsible for Mazda Europe, the design will resume in the future. that of the CX-90 SUV which is; was recently presented in the United States. To accommodate a third row of seats, the new SUV will have a length certainly greater than the 4,740 mm of the CX-60. The wheelbase of 2,870 mm should also grow a bit.

This new SUV is the perfect choice. destined to become the flagship of Mazda's European range. As for the engines, no details have been added. However, since the CX-80 will be resting on the ground. on the same platform as the CX-60, both the new Plug-in powertrain and the new 3.3-liter 6-cylinder diesel with Mild Hybrid technology will most likely still be offered. The new Mazda CX-80 will not be; marketed only in Europe but also in Japan.

RANGE EXTENDER ALSO ON OTHER MODELS?

In addition to the confirmation that the CX-80 will make its debut in the in Europe by the end of 2023, Martjin ten Brink told other very interesting things. With the farewell of the Mazda CX-3, the Japanese automaker aims to offer more room for growth to the CX-5 thanks to the introduction of a new Mild Hybrid petrol engine. Brand bosses expect the CX-5 to be their most successful model yet. sold in 2023.

Even more; interesting, however, “ the possibility; that the Wankel range extender used on the MX-30 can also be adopted on other models. The manager speaks specifically of the Mazda3 and Mazda CX-30 as they are based on the same platform as the MX-30.

What is? sure it is; that Mazda is shifting its attention more and more; on the electrification of its range. Therefore, it would not be strange that the manufacturer wants to use the powertrain with Wankel range extender on other models as well.
