Marton Dardai initiated the clear victory for Hertha BSC with a dream goal against Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 21-year-old impressively continues the story of the Dardai family in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
Marton Dardai (M. ) can be celebrated for his dream goal to make it 2-1 for Hertha BSC against Gladbach
The name is well known in Berlin. The Dardais have played an important role at Bundesliga club Hertha BSC for many years. Pal Dardai in particular left his mark on the traditional club. 297 games (17 goals) as a midfield worker and Hertha record player and four and a half years as a coach for the Berliners have left their mark on the club – especially since the Hungarian Hertha before relegation and afterwards indulged in a big cigar.
But there is currently another Dardai among the Berliners who caused a sensation in the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Pal's son, Marton Dardai, who has a German passport, scored a dream goal for the interim 2: 1 (final score 4: 1) for Hertha, who were threatened with relegation. Marton Dardai didn't hesitate and shot hard from 25 meters into the upper right corner of the Gladbach goal. It was a double holiday for Marton. Because he celebrated his 21st birthday this Sunday. And before that he had finally made it back into the starting XI of the Berliners. He crowned this day with a magnificent goal – and had emphatically drawn attention to himself. “It was my best birthday so far,” said the goalscorer. “It's so unreal.”
Loan to Hamburg refused
Most recently, the U21 national player was sidelined under coach Sandro Schwarz. This had to do with several small injuries, among other things. But also because he somehow didn't really want to fit into the tactical concept of coach Schwarz. Marton Dardai was under the coach before the Gladbach game only once this season in the starting XI. He came up with a meager seven appearances and only 175 minutes of playing time. Dardai was last allowed on the field on October 23 in the 2-1 win against Schalke. For a full 60 seconds, substituted in overtime.

Applause from father Pal
His performance on Sunday lasted 83 minutes, after which Dardai suffered a slight injury leave the field. He was sure of the applause – also from his father Pal, who was sitting in the VIP stand together with his wife Monika Szemmelroth and clearly enjoyed this new Dardai day in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
