Toyota Grand Highlander, the new SUV makes its debut at the Chicago Auto Show

If the space offered by the Toyota Highlander is not enough, at the Chicago Motor Show, the Japanese car manufacturer presented the new Grand Highlander. We're talking about a maxi SUV that can accommodate up to 8 people on board (depending on the configuration chosen). 5.11 meters long, this model still rests on the TNGA-K platform. For the moment, details on the marketing have not been disclosed. Toyota has promised that it will provide more information by the end of next summer. This model, however, will hardly reach the market. also in Europe.

PLENTY OF SPACE ON BOARD

The automaker has developed the new Grand Highlander to offer plenty of space and comfort. The third row of passengers, usually very sacrificed, here it allows you to comfortably accommodate adults too (140 mm more space for the legs compared to the Highlander). Inside the cabin we also find several small storage compartments, USB-C sockets and cup holders for all rows of seats. Second row passengers will also be able to count on a panel from which to manage the climate settings. On the most important set-ups; rich, the front seats can also be heated and with a ventilation function.

Obviously, there is not even a lot of technology missing on board this maxi SUV, starting from the infotainment system that can; count on a 12.3-inch screenplaced centrally on the dashboard. The digital instrument cluster also has a 12.3-inch screen. The larger dimensions have not only made it possible to have more; space available for occupants. In fact, compared to the Toyota Highlander, the capacity also increases; minimum of the trunk which arrives, in fact, at 594 litres. By folding down the second and third row seats, the space can be improved. even grow up to to 2,775 litres.

The new Toyota Grand Highlander on the American market will be; proposed with three different engines, two of which are hybrids. The manufacturer hasn't communicated all the details of the engines but the maxi SUV will be available in the future. offered, first of all, with a non-electrified 2.4-litre turbo petrol engine (265 HP), with both front-wheel drive only and all-wheel drive. We will then have a 2.5-litre Full Hybrid, always with front or all-wheel drive (243 HP).

At the top of the range we will find the new 2.4 Hybrid Max engine capable of delivering 362 HP with 542 Nm of torque (all-wheel drive only). The manufacturer promises acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.3 seconds. All propulsions are equipped with three modes; driving conditions (Sport, Eco, Normal), while the Multi-Terrain Select with the modes; Mud & Sand, Rock & Dirt, Snow & egrave; available on the variants with all-wheel drive.

On the safety side, the Grand Highlander will offer; the latest generation of Toyota Safety Sense is standard.
