According to the district court, the convicts have actively participated in throwing stones, firecrackers and other loose objects at police officers and police vehicles on April 14, 2022 in Skäggetorp.

The court considers that the defendants through their actions and his presence at the scene have formed part of the overall incident and thereby also contributed to encouraging the other perpetrators in their criminal acts.

One of the defendants is judged to have taken a leading position and to have had a push role that has contributed to the development of events and the attack against the police escalating and becoming increasingly threatening and violent.

The District Court considers that it is clear that the police were exposed to extensive violence and that police equipment of great value was damaged or destroyed.

According to the court, the lack of serious personal injuries appears to be a “pure coincidence” beyond the control of the perpetrators.

The attack was based on dissatisfaction with the police granting a confession nd to a public gathering and, according to the district court's assessment, it has been aimed at preventing the police from carrying out their mission.

In the long run, the action constitutes a threat to constitutionally protected rights such as freedom of expression and demonstration, according to the district court.

The penalties for those convicted have been determined to be between 4 and 5 years in prison.

A defendant is acquitted when the district court does not consider that the evidence cited provides sufficient support that he has committed the acts that the prosecutor has alleged.
