Honor is now serving the Android middle class with the two new smartphones X7a and X8a at prices of 230 and 270 euros. The cheaper of the two models wants to convince with a large battery, the other with a high-resolution camera and a display with narrow edges. Both devices come in three colors each.

The manufacturer puts the battery of the X7a at 5,330 mAh and promises a particularly long service life, which should also be sufficient for longer weekend trips without having to use a power outlet. In terms of longevity, Honor explains that the battery should still provide 80 percent of its capacity after three years of use. The smartphone supports charging processes with up to 22.5 watts.
At a price of 229.90 euros, the Honor X7a also offers a 6.745 inch screen with HD resolution, which displays its pixels on a classic 90 Hz IPS panel. On the back, users will find a quad camera with 50, 5, 2 and 2 MP for wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle and macro shots as well as for capturing depth data in portrait photos. There is an 8 MP camera on the front, and both sides also support Full HD video recording.
When it comes to the processor, Honor relies on MediaTek and their 12 nm Helio G37 with two clusters of Cortex-A53 clocked at different rates. In addition, there is 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of expandable storage, USB-C 2.0 and a jack socket. The smartphone runs Android 12 and the Honor Magic UI 6.1 attachment. Since the separation from Huawei, all known Google services have been running on the devices again. The available colors go by the names Titanium Silver, Ocean Blue and Midnight Black.

The Honor X8a is in a class higher for 269.90 euros. Its 6.7-inch screen has narrow bezels, takes up 93.6 percent of the front and offers a higher resolution of 2,330 × 1,080 pixels. On the back, the primary camera has been upgraded to 100 MP, at least in terms of resolution. AI technology is designed to ensure optimized image quality in more than 20 different scenarios. With the second, third and fourth camera, the aforementioned perspectives are again covered. The front also offers a higher resolution than the X7a with 16 MP.
The processor gets an upgrade to the Helio G88, which offers two more powerful Cortex-A75 in the performance cluster and is combined with 6 GB of RAM. The battery is a bit smaller at 4,500 mAh, but can be charged again with 22.5 watts. There are also slightly different colors to choose from with Cyan Lake, Titanium Silver and Midnight Black.
